The card, front and back
The front shows the word with its article and part of speech, and a real sentence with the word highlighted. Tap to flip. The back adds the English and the sentence’s translation. Tap the card here to try it.
Vögel is spaced repetition for German vocabulary, built around one idea: never making you learn what you already know. It starts from the most frequent German words and drops what English gives you for free. What’s left is 1000 words you’d have to learn on purpose, one tap to flip and one to rate. No account. Nothing leaves your phone.

Three circles rate every card: Not yet, A little, or I know it. Each answer sets when the word comes back. Two greens in a row mark it as Learned; a miss sends it back a step.
The 1000 words sit in 21 topic units, from core verbs to society and politics. Home picks three units for the next session, ten cards by default, reviews first and then new words. Or open any unit and work through it.
I’m a researcher who builds the apps I need together with Claude. Vögel exists because I wanted a German vocabulary app that didn’t spend my first weeks on words I already knew.
